This is freeing. It’s almost like I can hear you exhale while reading it. Makes me happy you felt safe and at rest. Thanks for sharing this with all of us 🫂
“I am not worried about the lighting or contorting my body a certain way or tactically covering another part of my body. All of that doesn’t exist here.”
Ugh this is such a good description of KSpa and how it feels to share space designed specifically for us all to rest and recover from the gaze of the outside world! 🌱
Thank you for reading!! I'm so glad you've had the euphoric experience of King Spa! I truly could spend a whole day here, nom on some chicken katsu curry, take a nap in the oxygen room, and then end my day with a peaceful walk through H-Mart. Actually, that might be my perfect day!
Beautifully written. We have lost so much by no longer being surrounded by women who have known us from birth, and whose bodies we know intimately but non-sexually. Thru hiking gave me some of this: there is no “am I looking good while I do this” out there because we’re too busy working on “can I actually do this?” Body fat becomes fuel reserves, and is deeply desired for one’s own good.
Thank you so much for reading with such care, Liz! I'm glad it touched you in a personal way. Physical movement like hiking is such a beautiful, tangible way to have gratitude for our bodies. Though I now live in Chicago and don't hike as much, I'm from New England so it resonates. I think especially on solo hikes, we are so in tune with our bodies -- all I hear from myself is my breathing. Something that never ceases but is so up front and center in a moment like that! Sending you lots of love as we continue finding the things we have lost along the way.
Sometimes, these men are wild! Not gonna lie! But I’m gonna release the anger, and instead, make you a 6 hours sauce :) Eggplant parm at my place soon <3

Thank YOU for holding these words. May we all continue to find small was to move and breath uninhibited.
